Company Used Intellum’s TribeSocial and Exceed LMS to Engage and Train Employees in 1,900+ Parking Locations Around the United States
Intellum, a visionary provider of learning-related technology for companies of all sizes, announced today that one of its customers, LAZ Parking, came in thirty-eighth place in the 2014 Learning! 100 Awards, a program recognizing 100 private and public organizations for outstanding learning cultures, innovations, or collaborations that drive performance. LAZ Parking was recognized for its innovative use of a social, collaborative network to engage its highly distributed workforce and the creation of a management development strategy, which also employed social learning and collaboration as a key support element.
The third largest parking company in the United States, LAZ Parking employs approximately 7,800 people, many of whom are hourly parking attendants. The company’s goal was to strengthen engagement and make development opportunities accessible to all employees – even to those without easy access to corporate computers. The company also needed to aggressively build a pipeline of potential managers in order to sustain growth. In approximately two years, LAZ Parking developed a business-aligned training strategy; implemented an integrated LMS and social networking platform that was easy to administer and use, designed to manage all types of resources including video, and offered an excellent mobile experience; built out the company’s learning resources primarily through curated and internally-produced content; and created a manager certification program.
2014 Learning! Award winners were announced on August 25 at the Enterprise! Learning Conference and Expo in Anaheim, CA. Elearning! Media Group, publishers of Elearning! and Government Elearning! magazines and producers of the Enterprise! Learning Conference, conducts the annual award program.
“Our company’s mission – called “The LAZ Way” -- is to create opportunities for employees and value for clients. This initiative had executive buy-in from the start, even though the company had had no prior experience with social and informal learning. The results have really paid off. Employee adoption and participation have exceeded our expectations,” said Andi Campbell, vice president of human resources for LAZ Parking. “The success of LAZ Parking’s initiative demonstrates the power of social learning and collaboration for virtually any type of workforce. We congratulate the LAZ team for its vision and success,” said Chip Ramsey, co-founder and CEO of Intellum.
“While many companies have yet to adopt social and informal learning in a major way, LAZ Parking dared to innovate and consequently is realizing substantial benefits. Learning professionals can learn much from LAZ Parking’s use of social-based learning for all employee audiences,” said Catherine Upton, group publisher, Elearning! Media Group. For further details on LAZ Parking’s approach to employee engagement and training, see the article “Content Curation” in the August/September issue of Elearning! magazine. Intellum will be hosting a live, complimentary webinar presentation conducted by Andi Campbell of LAZ Parking on Wednesday, October 15, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Eastern.
